My stock battery took a **** two weekends ago . I needed to ride so I had to buy a new battery at wally world . Had no choise. Watch out for the correct battery tender for charging those light weight batterys. Alot of guys on my old Raider forum had bad experience's with those batterys. Just saying. But I still might get one myself any way for the weight saveings.

Yes I already know about that. If you are using a standard battery tender you can not charge this battery for more than 10 min., so I always set the timer on my phone for 10 min., but I rarely need to charge it, I do anyway if I'm doing maintenance and have the seat off. There is a special smart tender made to leave connected to these lithium ion batteries which I don't have the need for. Racers that live in cold weather states will remove their batteries from the bike and leave them hooked up to the tender for the winter while their bike is in storage.
Did you have to change the battery or was it just a preference to go with a lighter one?

no the stock battery was fine and still is sitting on the shelf, just wanted lighter.
Very smart move although not exactly cheap, well worth it for the long term however.
I believe these hold a charge better and overall have more juice in them. So not only do we shave weight but also have are more dependable battery, great for guys looking to hook up a few accessories.

yeah this is standard practice with the guys racing sportbikes because not only do they want to trade $ for weight but on bikes like the zx10r many have problems with the OEM battery not giving enough power to the ECU so error warning lights come up on the dash all the time. Replacing with a good lithium ion solves this.
Just in case, what is the part # of that Shorai battery.

If I had that info I'd give it to ya, but I'd have to remove the battery from the bike to find out. I bought it 4yrs ago for my zx10r so..
