Hello all,

I have a question: In general, is there a need for performance aftermarket upgrades for the FZ-10?

Performance exhaust, high flow air filter, ECU reflash (de-restriction/ allow 100% throttle opening etc.) Carbon fiber wheels?

Or, (from a performance standpoint) will this bike be basically left stock by the owners?

Please let me know your thoughts,

Brock

I mean... there really isn't a need in my opinion. But depending on who you are, you'll always want more. Ride around for a few months, and the power isn't going to be enough. Make some upgrade like an exhaust and air filter, ride around for another few months, and your back at it again lol

For me,it's all about sound. That's why I'm on the waiting list for a full titanium exhaust system. This engine has the best exhaust note out there and I want everyone to know it.Besides, I want cars around me to know I'm here.

In my personal preference.. you can never be too loud. Roar of the gods it is ! But realistically, it's always good to know that people can hear you clearly when you're around them driving.
Thanks for your input. We are contemplating producing a full system similar to this for the FZ-10:

I just don't want to go through the time/trouble/expense if the owners are not into the look, sound etc.

It does look and sound good. And the ETA is ... WHEN. But, the Power Commander is also not out yet.So I don't want to lean out my engine.Yelp, I know, hurry up and wait.
Looks like Dynojet and Bazzaz lists controllers, so fuel mapping should not be a problem.

Question - what are owner thoughts on throttle smoothness? Good/Bad/Terrible? The R1/R1M was terrible... very 'jerky' at low throttle openings. We cured that with a combination of ECU and fuel mapping.

Is this a problem with the FZ-10 also?

And THANKS all for the comments!

I just mailed my ECU in to 2 wheel dyno works for their 147 hp decat tune. they tuned my FZ-09 perfectly a couple years ago. Really woke the bike up and fixed the low end fueling. So far, they have the highest hp tune I could find and other fz10 owners are saying that it really corrects the fueling in the low end. I'm supposed to get my ECU back by Wed, will post an update.

Here's their 150 hp tune set up for a hindle exhaust.

Got my ecu back yesterday and wow, the difference is night and day. Tons more low end power but the fueling seems to be alot smoother, tons of smooth and consistent power. I think this tune brings the bike to and beyond what the Euro MT-10 is making. Stock exhaust and I'm getting 147 hp, wheras at stock it was only making 133 hp.
Here is a vid of the stock exhaust decat tune that I got from Nels. The tune is usually $349 but members of "another" forum get a $50 discount. Price includes free updates for life of the bike, so if I get a new exhaust, he'll update the tune perfectly for that exhaust for free, which is a heck of a deal. So I basically got 12 more hp and smoother fueling for $299.00.
