Hello all,

New member here. My name's Todd and I live in Columbia, SC. I'm picking up my new FZ-10 this weekend. I'm trading in my 08 CBR1000RR. It's been a great bike for me and an absolute blast at the track, but I've been looking for something to do some longer riding with (and the occasional track day). All in all, I'm pretty stoked to get on the new mount and get some work done to it as well. Does anyone know if there is an app for the FZ-10 forum? I'm currently using the motorcycle.com app for the 1000rr.net forum. I'm hoping you guys have something similar.

Welcome to the forum! The weekend is just around the corner so you'll be riding your FZ-10 in no time. Track days are fun and all, but after a while you just want something that's still fun but more of a daily rider.

Not sure about the forum app, maybe one will be added later on.

What kind of work are you planning to do on the FZ-10?

Welcome to the forums and congratulations. Gonna be a killer to keep through with the break-in process ;)

As far as the app goes, I'm not too sure, but I think if you add a shortcut to the website on your homepage, you can access the mobile site a lot easier and it'll be sort of like an app?

First thing will be an oil change and baseline the suspension for my fat ass. Then the next few things will probably be an integrated taillight, a FE, and a gel insert for the seat. I had a Motodynamic taillight on my CBR. They're cheaper and better IMO than the Blaster-X. Plus, I like the sequential turn signals. They don't have one listed for the FZ10, but they have it for the FJ/FZ9, and it's the same Yamaha part number. Also, I figure I'll pull the seat cover and inlay a gel insert before spending the extra coin on a comfort seat.

Keep us posted on how your long distance riding journeys go. It's going to be interesting hearing that from someone who comes from a bike as sporty as the 1000RR. Fresh perspective helps since I find its not often someone breaks out of that mold and into this segment, a lot stick within it.

What other bikes were you looking at before pulling the trigger on this FZ?

Let us know how it goes!

The 08+ CBR1000rr's are touted for the engine's mid range grunt and rideability. Plus, I had mine dyno'ed by Nels at Redline Cycle when I lived in Washington, so it was ultra smooth and powerful. I decided to pick up the FZ-10 to keep that literbike power with an upright riding position. I still love my CBR. It was great for back road commuting and track days, but it was **** for day-tripping out around the mountains and such. I would have liked to keep it as a dedicated tracker, but I couldn't swing a new bike without a trade in. I was going to pick up an FJ09, but waited since I was leaving the military and didn't need to spend the money while transitioning. I'm glad I did, since they released the FZ-10 to the States.
