Hello Everyone,

Happy to be on the site with you.

Last Saturday, I purchased the brand new FZ-10 bike after months of research and talking to others about it.

It was the FJ-09 or the FZ-10, but in the end I picket the FZ-10 for the performance and engine sound.

On my way home from the dealership I was shifting from 4th to 3rd and the bike died on me. :frown2:

I was on the freeway in heavy traffic and I quickly pulled to the side.

Pulled in the clutch and put the bike in Neutral and tried to start again.

Bike fired right up, but as soon as I shifted to 1st gear it died again while the clutch was still pulled in....

Anyway, needless to say the bike is now in the shop...:crying:

Anyone else have this kind of experience ?

They are looking at the clutch switch and kickstand sensor.

Anything I should know about or tell them to check ?

I am disappointed to say the least...

Welcome aboard and I bet it's the side stand switch that's not working I think that's a recall on it?

Sorry to hear you had that experience. Kind of sours the new bike feeling too. One thing at least to take away from it is that overall Yamaha is rated the highest out of any and all motorcycles as the number one in reliability. I'm guessing it is something that will be not a big deal for the fix.

In any case welcome to the forum and I hope they get it ironed out quickly so you can start racking up the miles.

Guys thanks for the warm welcome...

Update:

They are replacing the kick stand switch - just as Yammboy113 suggested...

Lets hope that takes care of it...

I appreciate the help, and will keep you posted.

Hopefully I'm back on the road soon so that I can break the bike in.

What do you think your timeline for breaking it in will be like? I know some people go on long rides right away and get it done in an weekend while others just stick to regular riding and play the patience game.

Good tips but i think part of what helps is looking into what people who owned similar bikes from a similar bike maker has done, that way it can be seen as more direct information. That's just my take on it.
