Hey everyone, just wanted to make an intro post and welcome myself to the FZ-10 forum. I remember last year joking to my buddy after seeing a picture of the FZ-10 that if this bike came to the states i'd be replacing my r6 with it. Well, that day has come.

Honestly I love my R6 a lot, but the leaned over position is just too much. I even added Helibars to it to make it more upright and I still have neck and back cramping. I enjoy riding my wifes Ninja 300 more than my R6 just because of the comfort factor, haha.

Have a ton done to the R6, going to try to be easy with the FZ-10 but yeah that probably won't happen. Picking it up sometime this week, can't wait!

Attached a pic of my R6, and a photo of a projector retrofit I did on my wifes Ninja 300.

You'll love the FZ, welcome to the forums!
Thanks! I'm hoping so. The only thing that was making me nervous was the reported gas mileage on this bike. But I just had recently reflashed my r6 and now the gas mileage on there is meh...I was getting about 120 miles before the light came on (I know people have complained about the breakdown of the gas gauge but I can't tell you how excited I am to actually HAVE a gas gauge lol) pre-flash. So if I can get around that before I see a light come on I won't care so much. Everyone goes off MPG but I see it as mile per tank from the moment i fill to the moment the light comes on and i have to fill it.

If you plan on covering what your riding experience is like then i will be looking forward to that especially since you come from the R6. Everyone comes from a different riding background and thus give different feedback. Don't know how many ex-R6 guys we have here.

Best mileage I have seen is 34, worst is 23 but yes the gas gauge is a great indicator. It will jump from full to half in a blink of an eye but from there it goes down as you would expect. You may find that you get pretty close to what you were used to on your R6 after the flash.

I adhere to what others on the forum have said regarding mileage, "more smiles per mile" :)

Thanks, i'll make sure to start a thread on my bike and my thoughts. I do see a few R1 guys so i'm sure the switch can be compared somewhat. Honestly I love the R6 but for long stretches its just uncomfortable. I can't even ride 30-40 minutes without getting neck or back discomfort.

No need to welcome yourself, that's what we're here for :)

Welcome to the forums! That retrofit looks clean as heck though, how long did it take you to do it?!
Thanks! I own a business on the side and we do specialized performance work...and one of the more popular jobs we get are headlight modifications. First time doing it in a bike, but the whole process did take quite a while because I was working on it between actual work. I'm very happy with the results though, its a night and day difference with light output and just overall looks.

The funny thing is, I bought another H1 kit for my R6, and now i'm not even keeping it

Thanks! I've seen your name pop up many times browsing the forum. Looking forward to more.

I honestly was a bit shocked because I saw a steady 120 or so from the r6...and when the gas light came on at 100 miles last fill up, I was like wtf?? Hoping I can push more than that out of the FZ-10. I will enjoy it either way but I will use it to go to work when its nice out.

Welcome to the forum! You'll love the bike; plenty of grunt, super easy to flick around in the corners, sounds great and just downright fun. I've had a lot of different bikes and I can honestly say that none of them have been as fun as the FZ-10. Like other's have mentioned; the fuel mileage blows, but now that I've got a couple thousand miles on it, I don't care. LOL
I just ride it, and grin the whole time. :)

Good to hear, that seems to be the general consensus. Honestly the gas mileage is what it is. Ill just be annoyed if next years bike has better fuel economy/bigger tank or something LOL

The only way you will get better gas mileage is on the highway at steady speeds above 70mph. That's when you will get 38+ average mpg, even two up like me. At least you know that on a long trip on the free ways you will get better mpg. One of the only bikes Out of 30 that I have owned that gets better mpg on the highway than on the country back roads taking it easy, weird.

I was a little concerned about the MPG as well, but like many have already said, the smile from ear to ear makes up for it. I have been riding R1's for the past 13 years, and I have zero regrets with the FZ. This thing is a wicked STREET bike, you will like it, I promise.:wink2:

Not one bit surprised since even with the 07 and 09 some R1 guys I know were happy with them. Just sitting on FZ-07's and FZ-09's made them happy. Yamaha got these right. Have you tried any other FZ's like mentioned above?

My son's FZ09 is crazy fast, gets 50MPG no problem.
My FZ10 is ludicrous fast, and I don't care what the MPG is!
But, 32-38 is what I'm getting, and yes, faster cruising is better mileage, go figure.

Welcome to the fun!

I haven't tried any other FZ's, and the thought of dropping displacement was never an option. Now, if they come out with an FZ-12, haha, then I would definitely be game.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been riding my bike every chance I can get and man do I love this thing. Already ordered a few things for it.

Evotech Radiator & Oil cooler guards
ASV F3 Levers
Helmet Lock
TechSpec Grips

I've had in my shopping cart for about 3 days now a set of CRG LS Hindsight Mirrors and a Vagabond Fender eliminator...along with Rhino Bar ends. Trying to be easy on ordering a slew of parts out of the gate, but damnit its hard LOL

Oh and on the MPG thing..I have gotten better gas mileage ever since the first fillup. I'm just assuming the dealership didn't top of the tank. Granted its only about another 15 miles or so but ill take every one I can get lol.
