I work for a Yamaha/Kawasaki/Suzuki/Can Am dealership. At the beginning of this past winter, we received our first FZ-10. We instantly put it out for display in our showroom.
We have a large selection of street bikes- all makes and models. None of which caught my attention (and obsession) like the FZ-10 has. As soon as decent riding weather finally showed up a few weeks ago, I HAD TO MAKE THIS MATTE RAVEN BLACK BEAST MINE! So, now, I'm a proud FZ-10 owner!
In the first couple weeks I've owned it, I've already put just over 410 miles on it. Pretty impressive considering I only live about 7 miles from where I work.
So far, for accessories, I've bought the radiator guard, the comfort saddle and the Yamaha brand slim frame sliders and Nelson-Riggs tank bag and tail bag. Along with some other odds and ends.
I bought the Full Titanium Akrapovič Exhaust System and I'm currently awaiting our service department to install them for me. Can't wait!
I joined these forums to get opinions on switching out the headlights for maybe something brighter than what is factory. So, any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!:grin2:
Best bike I've ever owned. Period.

Welcome to the forum! The FZ-20 is certainly eye catching and you'll be hard pressed to find something as unique as it, especially the front design.
Can't disagree with anything you've said and have said here before it is one of he best motorcycle's I've ever owned in the last forty years. Except one thing, I am curious about the 41% failure rate on Can-Am, is that legit?

Lol, haven't heard that about Can-Am before.

Thanks! BTW- I can't wait to see what the FZ-20 looks like! ha ha

On the latest Consumer report they rated the top and the lowest reliability, Can-Am came in at 41% major failure within a four year period.

Off course Yamaha was the highest in reliability out off all others :)

On the latest Consumer report

No doubt. Yamaha is the shiznit!
But, about Consumer Report- I haven't trusted that rag on anything for a few years. They might be dead on about Can Am. But as far as anything I've seen or heard first hand from customers- that failure rate just doesn't seem accurate. Again, I'm not saying it isn't accurate. Maybe the CanAm customers in my region have somehow dodged 'the bullet'.
Everyone should just buy Yamaha and not worry about it! :wink2:
I was going to get the full akra system, but I talked to a rep and asked if I could get the full carbon fiber muffler and she said no. So I went a different route on exhaust and ordered an sc-project slip on. Two days later she called me back and said they could. 🙃

What a bummer! Its almost comical, one day I'll be looking for an accessory through Yamaha and it won't be available for the FZ-10. I'll check two days later and BAM! It's now available. My rep said they held off on making a bunch of 'official' accessories for the FZ-10 because they weren't quite sure on how it would perform sales wise. Well, now they see that they have a MAJOR HIT on their hands and they are working overtime to get out more accessories for it. Seriously, I check everyday for something- it's not available. Less than a week later- it's available! That's a good sign for us FZ-10 owners.
