My first video with the GoPro setup.
Short ride from Sugar Bottom State Park to the Coralville Dam. Nothing too crazy. Got to be cautious with campers and boats coming in and out of the park areas. The road in between is littered with hidden driveways, regular drive ways and is a chip seal repaired road so gets a little sketchy in places. Just a really nice day to enjoy a ride and share the sweet song of the FZ10 with the Akrapovic 3/4 System.
At the 3:17 mark you see where I got crowded by an asshat in a truck!! GRRR!!! At the 12:07 mark you can see how easy the front comes up without even trying then I turn around and hit the quick shifter for a few bangs.

Beautiful country there, we have some in the Sierras that is nice like that but that was really picturesque. I noticed that even with the quick shifter you would still shift what I call normally, was that just from muscle memory or do you only use the QS only when banging through the gears?

Also where was your GoPro mounted? it really looked and sounded great.

A lot of my riding is done with the clutch and all downshifts are with clutch since it is not a auto blipper. That setup is much more involved and more money. The QS is used for playing in remote areas and I also tend to use it when accelerating up to speed getting on to highways, on ramps to interstate or when passing cars. >:)

The mount for my bike is quite funny actually. I didn't want to put any of their adhesive mounts on the bike. So I came up with this. I took a 95lb rated pull weight round magnet and mounted the GoPro mounts to it. I use a thin protection barrier that I made from some material that my carbon fiber parts came shipped in to keep the magnet from scratching the tank. It is set in between the gas cap and the front plastic piece on the tank. Since that spot slants forward, that is why the camera is tilted back. This compensates for the slant.

Is that the GoPro Hero 5 ?? I tried putting utilizing mine and the wind noise was just crazy, does the case help with it that much or were you running an external microphone? The video looked great and now I'm going to bombard you with questions as to how ;)

GoPro 4 and I did use the case. No external microphone but I am working on one that will mount under the tail section to get a little better note from the exhaust.

Have you ever used other cameras? I've been looking at the Akaso 4K cameras and they get tremendous reviews from previous GoPro owners as well as others. They even are supposed to work across all the accessories as well.

Years ago I used a mini camcorder when I was down at the Tail of Dragon on my 07 R1. Video quality is terrible compared to todays standards. LOL GoPro is the only digital system I have used.

****, I wish I had thought of that. LOL I just mounted my GoPro 5 to the top of the tank with the adhesive gizmo.

Took some video today; holy crap is it clear. I had the GPHero4 Silver; the video coming out of the 5 is so much better.

Hoping to get out tomorrow and actually ride some roads to get some decent footage. Today was just test footage around town.

Hey Bogie:

You might want to put one more extension in the stalk to get the camera up and over the phone more. The wind noise is going to be greater, but maybe a piece of tape or mic mounted somewhere else on the bike would compensate for that. You'll get more view and less phone.

I decided to try an action camera with a chest strap mount. Will have to experiment with it once it arrives. I decided on a Yi4K camera, less money then most mainly because I am cheap and it get's decent reviews. Uses a Sony imaging system as well.

We'll see how it goes once I get it up and going.

Check around on the GoPro site; for a while there they were running a deal where you could get $100 off the GoPro Hero 5 by trading in your GoPro 4 (or older I think), in ANY condition.

I had a buddy of mine that took his GP4 into the ocean with the skeleton case on. Ruined instantly. Traded his in to GoPro, got the $100 discount, and then sold him my GP4 for $100. He's happy, I'm happy, everyone's happy!!

Here's the link: https://shop.gopro.com/tradeup

You might check Craigslist and see if anyone has a broken GoPro that they're selling for parts or something.

They actually have done some side by side comparisons of the Yi4K and the GoPro and most were very complimentary of the Yi4K considering the cost. I like the GoPro cameras but I just don't want to spend the money on something I may only use occasionaly.

Well didn't that induce a sense of nostalgia. Got me thinking of going back and watching the original superspeedersrob series from way back when haha!

Yeah I mounted a small Canon camera that could take videos on my bike a few years ago when I did a few parade laps during the AMA event at VIR. The video quality is terrible in comparison to current quality standards.

I think I need to find that video to remember just how bad it is and to realize how many great improvements they've made to VIR in the past few years.
