Purchasing a new motorcycle, especially one that has a $12,999 MSRP will require a bit of research beforehand and that’s where this 2017 Yamaha FZ-10 buyer’s guide, courtesy of Ultimate Motorcycling, comes in.

Essentially a naked version of the YZF-R1, the FZ-10 sits on a Deltabox chassis that’s powered by a DOHC inline-4 motor. Making street riding more comfortable are fully-adjustable inverted KYB front fork and four-way-adjustable, linkage-type KYB shock, the same KYB units as those found on the R1. Yamaha has made adjustments to the suspension units for more street orientated riding.

While it is more daily-ride friendly, the stock seat may not be the most comfortable for long rides. On the bright side, upright ergonomics will have you riding in relaxed comfort. There’s also a hip stopper to help brace riders when they’re under hard acceleration.

Coupled with standard, high end advanced Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), electronic aids, clutch with the assist-and-slipper design, and Bridgestone Hypersport S20 tires, the FZ-10 will provide you with plenty of feedback and control.

On top of the standard equipment, the FZ-10’s exposed hardware is perfect for mounting accessories like chassis protection or a windscreen.

Yamaha does have a comfort seat for the fz-10, but at $368.95 you may as well go grab one from the aftermarket. Anyone thinking of getting a DC outlet?
