My FZ came with it installed from dealer so I can't speak for it without QS. Have ridden plenty of sport bikes without them, gixxers, R1s, etc. I never really saw the need for one until now... I honestly think it should be standard. Well worth the $200.
I believe so, you can look and see if there is a connector going from the shift stalk to a wiring harness right near it. The FZ-10 is plug in and then as I understand it you hold the gear selector up, turn on the key and in 20 seconds or less it will flash on the panel.
But I haven't personally done it so I cannot say for certain.
just installed the QS on my fz10 today, works great, especially shifting while the front wheel is up in the air cause you don't have to roll off the throttle.
Was a much easier install than on my '17 R6 cause the QS cable/plug on the 10 is accessible right there next to the shift rod, don't have to remove the gas tank like I did on the R6.
great mod!
Just ordered one today from 2wheelpros, 156.00 free shipping. I was in the dealer today and checked their price 200.00, but either way they are back ordered until June 5th from Yamaha. I'm looking forward to it, but also a question for racer172, I don't mind doing allot of mods myself but my understanding was you needed to tell the ECU that you have a QS?
I don't mind paying for the install if it would save me a headache since I am both lazy and old
I decided to wait on the QS, they are out of stock pretty everywhere until June 5th anyway. I'm sure eventually I'll do one I just don't want to commit to it at the moment for some reason.
I just installed one on my bike. It works, but it seems to be a little clunky to operate. It is installed correctly as per the instructions so maybe I just need to get used to how it works. Needs more pressure to shift than I expected. Never had a bike with a quick shifter before, it is fun!
Mine is on order. The dealer gave me a discount(probably could have still found it cheaper online) on accessories when purchased the bike, so I opted for the taller screen and the quick shifter. Looks like a very simple install. I will give an update on my thoughts after trying it out.
So, I always ride with it and in fact I don't how it can be without it. But sometimes I also think that there is no the obligatory need for one. As I know you can buy such quick shifter because it costs about $200. Only I suggest to find a good mechanic or car electrician that will help you with installation. I don't advice to make a job that you cannot. You can look for a good professional at this company. https://bates-electric.com/locations/minneapolis-mn/
I installed one with my rapid bike evo and it's definitely not a necessity but it is nice
